For most people, February represents all things love and romance. This year, you can throw in a little tough love in the form of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Fans of the book have waited with bated breath for the movie’s February release, and now they’re finally able to get their fix of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the flesh.
But the movie also has its critics. With its sometimes over-the-top dialogue and racy subject matter, it’s become the brunt of many a late-night joke. Since the trailer was released, satirists have been hard at work paying homage to — or skewering, depending on your perspective — the movie in more ways than you can imagine.
In its short life, “Fifty Shades” is well on its way to becoming one of the most parodied films of all time. Some of our favorite spoofs are below. If you’ve been living in a hole for the past year and are not familiar with the movie, you may want to check out the official trailer before taking a gander at the funny reproductions.
Lego my whip
It’s really not a movie until there’s a Lego version, in our book. This spoof does not disappoint in the least. Lego Christian and Anastasia have just the right hairstyles, facial expressions and, shall we say, accoutrements to create a dead-on version of the trailer.
Fifty Shades of Buscemi
Steve Buscemi as Christian Grey takes Fifty Shades of Grey to a whole new level of kinky. This version of the trailer featuring our favorite goofy and slightly psycho anti-hero lives up to our expectations and more. You can bet your keester he’s going to get a piece of that pie, and turn this movie in a film while he’s at it.
It’s everyone’s favorite daytime talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, in some very compromising positions. Ellen’s faux-hot facial expressions are priceless in this spoof. The icing on the cake is her reaction to the Red Room. Her portrayal of Anastasia will surely get her a nod at the Oscars.
“Mr. Grey will see you meow.” This is by far the cutest and most adorable 50 Shades of Grey you will see hit the small screen. Forget whips and chains, Grey’s singular taste is catnip and maybe a feather to chase. Can you say puurrrrrrrr….
‘Fifty Shades’ of Frozen
Beware you’ll never be able to look at the movie Frozen the same way again after seeing this trailer. YouTube user Tranceart Violeta has created a creepy rendition of the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer using clips from Frozen which works uncomfortably too well. Prince Hans as Christian Grey just bummed a G-rated movie up to an R-rating. These two character suddenly seem like the same person, and there was a whole backstory to in Frozen that apparently we all missed.
Love in an Elevator
Vanessa Bayer of “Saturday Night Live” fame brings just the right slightly desperate, slightly crazed attitude to this Audi-ad spoof of the “Fifty Shades” elevator scene. Menagerie, anyone?
The Internet is an equal opportunity spoofer, and the “Fifty Shades of Grey” book in all its glory hasn’t been left out of the fun. In a horrifyingly funny “audio-book” version of the original, comedian Gilbert Gottfried reads extremely NSFW passages in his trademark shriek.
Several ongoing Twitter feeds also take their humor from the printed page. “Fifty Sheds of Grey” tweets one-liners that could hail from the book, with an earthy twist.
‘I want it now against this wall!’ she ordered, ‘And keep it up as long as possible.’ ‘Don’t worry,’ I said, ‘I know how to put up a shelf.’

Meanwhile, “Fifty Shades of Gran” provides hilarious and non sequiturs that your grandma could’ve said.
She stepped through the door and soon found her naked body immersed in a world of intense sensual pleasure. She loved her new walk-in bath.

Even with Fifty Shades of Grey just hitting movie theaters, the Internet already is awash in plenty of spoof versions that have tongues firmly planted in cheeks. As the movie continues to gain popularity and earn its permanent place in pop culture, we know these won’t be the last!
